City approves streets list for 2024 work
The Cameron City Council approved street work for the coming year during a meeting on Monday night.
The City of Cameron Street Department’s list of streets to be completed in 2024 is as follows.
Streets receiving a road over coat in 2024 are: E 15th from Jackson to Burns, 14 1/2 from Jackson to Burns, 14th from Jackson to Hoover, E. 11th from Jackson to Lee, E. 11th from Jackson to Harding, E. 16th from Fannin to Washington, and E. 16th from Burns to Jackson.
Streets receiving chip seal in 2024 that are scheduled for zipping are: Washington from First to Gillis, Main from Lamar to Oak, Lamar from Gillis to Main, Gillis from Columbus to Boedeker Lane, Orchard from Main to Batte, W. 5th from Scott to Bowie, and Scott from 2nd to W. 4th.
Streets scheduled to get an overlay in 2024 are: Karnes from Main to 4th, N. Burleson from 2nd to Batte, Newton from Burleson to Nolan, Oak from Main to Gillis, College from Gillis to Batte, Tyson from Gillis to Houston, Gillis from Fannin to Houston, Fannin from 2nd to 4th, E. 3rd from Fannin to North Milam, W. 3rd from Travis to Crockett, W. 2nd from Travis to Crockett, and First from Travis to Crockett.
During the meeting Mayor Bill Harris also acknowledged that Sharon and Terry Holt, volunteers with Milam Touch of Love and City of Cameron Pound Puppy Fosters donated items including heaters, collars, and leashes to the City Pound. He thanked them for their support.
The council also head a presentation from SPI about drainage issues along the railroad from West 12th to Highway 36 and approved a street closure on South Vine from West 2nd to West Tyson so a transformer can be transported to a solar farm north of town in late December.
During the meeting the council also approved a request from the Killeen Rough Riders to host their annual Trail Ride at Ledbetter Park from Oct 16-20, 2024. The group also made several presentations of appreciation to city employees.
