CISD Child Care Center honored with Impact Award

A new child care program created by Cameron ISD is earning accolades.

The Cameron ISD Child Care Center was handed the Workforce Education Impact Award at the recent 2023 Torch Awards as part of the 35th annual Workforce Awards Ceremony through Workforce Solutions of Central Texas.

Officials said the Cameron ISD Child Care Center serves as a beacon to nurture development of children, ensuring their positive self-concept, emotional well-being, social interactions, and intellectual and physical growth.

The program was founded two years ago and has grown by leaps and bounds. It was originally designed to cater to Cameron ISD employees and has expanded to serve the qualifying PK3 year old program. Cameron ISD chose to provide free, employee sponsored child care as a unique benefit to employees with hopes it will help with retaining and attracting high quality staff.

The result has been so positive it has led to complete staffing within Cameron ISD and their commitment to excellence is underscored by the recent Texas Rising Star 4-star certification, with aspirations to achieve NAEYC accreditation in the near future.
