Taylor Rodeo Association announces scholarship winners
The year 2020 will go down in history as being one of the most devastating many have witnessed in their lifetime. The pandemic influenced everyone one way or the other with sickness, mask mandates, event cancellations, and quarantines.
Organizations events of all kinds had to be canceled, including those who provide financial support to so many. The Taylor Rodeo Association was no exception, cancelling their 2020 Scholarship Fundraiser and Annual Rodeo.
The Rodeo Association realized the impact cancelling these events would have on all the organizations they support but mostly on the local 4-H FFA Organizations including the Associations scholarship program. Over the course of 2020 the Association reassessed their resources and expenses.
An Outdoor RTV Raffle was held to raise money for these kids. The work paid off and although not what they were accustomed to giving, the Association was able to provide financial support to the 4-H FF Organizations of Taylor, Granger, Thrall, and Thorndale.
Going into 2021 the directors and membership of the Rodeo Association were determined to provide all the scholarship funding support possible. This year would be different in that not only graduating high school seniors of Williamson County be scholarship eligible but for the first time graduating high school seniors of Milam County were to be included. Under the leadership of the Scholarship committee a new application format was developed and sent to all High Schools of both counties.
The Rodeo Association has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to date and was honored to present, at the 71st Annual Taylor Rodeo, the following graduating high school seniors a total of $ 26,000.00 in scholarship assistance.
