Cameron Elementary third graders honored local veterans during a Veterans Day Program on Monday, Nov. 11, at the Yoe High PAC. The students sang patriotic songs and read poems during the program.

The Cameron Lady Yoe girls basketball team showed improvement from last season, finishing with a record of 14-16 and a district record of 2-12.

The Cameron Yoemen were soundly defeated by Franklin, losing 76-35 on Nov. 1. 

The Lions pulled away early, outscoring Cameron 35-7 in the first half. 

The Lady Yoe hosted their 15th Annual Dig Pink Event this month, raising money for the Side Out Foundation.

Opinion

This last week there has been a lot of rumors and comments made about what is going on with Emergency Management in Milam County.

I am writing this on Election Day, so things are happening at a hectic fury around Milam County this morning.

The Presidential Election is here with Early Voting having started last Monday, Oct. 21, and will continue until the 1st of November with Election Day being Nov. 5.

Thorndale Volunteer Fire Deparment held  Fire Safety Week last week. They visited St. Paul’s and Thorndale Elementary on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

The Thorndale Bulldogs football team traveled to take on the Mason Punchers on Friday, Oct. 11, for their district opener. 

Thorndale was defeated by Mason, losing 59-14. 

The Thorndale City Council passed an Ordinance on Oct. 9 increasing the water tap fee from $950 to $1,265. 

This increase will go into effect on Nov. 1, 2024.
